If they fail to comply, they must either replace the vehicle with a new E20-compatible model or refund its on-road cost, making the ruling a significant consumer rights development.

India has waived excise duty on E22–E30 ethanol-blended petrol, making higher ethanol fuels more affordable and supporting the country’s push towards cleaner transportation. The move is expected to reduce crude oil imports, boost domestic ethanol production, and encourage the adoption of flex-fuel vehicles across India.
